BIG NEWS FROM AMARR!!!!

Two-Tone Classica Available July 1, 2013

Amarr is excited to announce 42 two-tone color combinations will be available on Amarr’s one-of-a-kind Classica Collection effective July 1, 2013.  Two-tone colored doors create more distinction and definition to the unique Classica designs and enhance the curb appeal of a home.

Product Details
Classica two-tone color options are produced by factory-painting our steel Classica doors.
  • The panel area of a Classica design is painted with one of 8 paint options:  True White, Almond, Wicker Tan, Sandtone, Terratone, Dark Brown, Hunter Green, and Gray.  These paints were selected to match existing and readily available Amarr touch-up paint.
  • The trim area of a Classica design remains the original steel section color available today in the Classica offering:  True White, Almond, Wicker Tan, Sandtone, Terratone, and Dark Brown.  This trim area is not factory-painted because if painted, the paint may wear away due to the rubbing of vinyl stop molding as a door opens and closes.
  • The top section of a two-tone Classica door with glass is not painted and is always the color of the original steel, as there is no panel area on this section when glass is installed and just the trim is visible.  Window frames always match the steel color on the trim.  To have a two-tone contrast look in the top section, order DecraTrim inserts in a color that matches the panel.
  • The factory-paint process used is a spray-gun paint process.  Variations in the edge of painted panel area are inherent in the two-tone painting process and are not a quality defect.
  • The existing finish warranties for Classica are maintained for the two-tone color combinations.
  • Two-tone colors are available in all constructions of Classica – Classica 1000, Classica 2000 and Classica 3000.
  • Manufacturing lead time is standard lead time + 1 extra week.

How to Buy a Garage Door

The process is simple.
This guide contains an overview of the many considerations that go into buying garage doors.
Whether or not you are a first-time buyer, we strongly encourage you to read this guide in its entirety. To get started quickly, follow these steps:

Step 1 Pick a material.

First, decide whether you want the beauty of wood or the durability
and low maintainance of steel. If you select steel, you will have the
choice of—one, two or three layer construction for extra durability
and noise reduction.

Step 2 Choose your style.
Determine which garage door design best suits your home. Remember, even if you’re
replacing an existing door, today you have a variety of styles and options to match the
look of your home. Use the Door Designer tool at amarr.com to help choose the right
style door.

Step 3 Find a good dealer.
A qualified dealer will provide pricing as well as determine the correct door size. Make
sure they are an authorized dealer, fully insured, and have a good reputation. Do not try
to repair or install a garage door yourself.

You can have the perfect garage door for your house. The good news is you do not have to design
your garage door from scratch (although, that option exists). Today’s
garage doors offer a wide variety of customizable features, allowing you to
find a garage door that expresses your individual style and compliments
your home.

How do you find the perfect garage door?

• Choose a door material that works with your lifestyle and location. For low-maintenance in any climate, steel doors are the answer. For a timeless, handcrafted look that may require more frequent upkeep, the natural beauty and warmth of wood doors are the classic choice.

• Remember, it has to fit. Typically, garage doors are offered in standard sizes. However some
manufacturers offer custom-fit sizes for uniquely designed garages. If you have a newer home,
more than likely Amarr makes a door to fit your garage. If you live in an older home, you may
have fewer choices, but you should have little trouble finding an Amarr garage door that fits.

• Garage doors are available in a variety of designs that fit any architecture, from old
world estate looks to authentic carriage house doors (doors that seem to swing open,
but open and operate like traditional garage doors) to ultra-sleek modern designs.

• Your color options are limitless. Amarr offers a limited number of pre-painted steel doors. But if you
want to customize the color, steel doors are ready to be painted with off-the-shelf exterior latex paint. Wood doors come in their natural finish, but are ready for staining or painting.

• The hardware accessories that are available with your garage door most often depend on the style of door you choose. Carriage house doors feature options for decorative handles and decorative strap hinges. The clean lines of a modern or traditional garage door may not need any embellishment.

• Windows not only bring natural light into your garage, they add another layer of style and sophistication to your garage doors. There are many decorative windows options—from
contemporary designs to ornamental faux wrought iron to Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired colors and
patterns—creating a garage door that fits your style and compliments the design of your home.

Keeping Your Garage Door Operating Reliably & Safely

In our northern climate  the range of temperatures  we experience cause garage doors & openers to require periodic maintenance. Its advisable to conduct routine maintenance of door & opener before the winter sets in and before the summer arrives.
  • Monthly Checks of cables, pulleys, rollers, hinges & opener for signs of wear
  • Spring useful life varies with the amount of use made of the door. If you suspect spring problems, do not try to adjust them yourself. They are under great tension & present major danger to anyone other than a qualified professional.
  • Another major danger area is the bottom brackets. They are connected by cables to the springs and also under extreme tension. Have a qualified professional make these adjustments or repairs.
  • Regularly lubricate the moving parts of the door with silicone spray or special garage door lubricant which doesn’t attract dirt/dust. Do not lubricate plastic parts. DO NOT USE GREASE
  • Test your garage door opener. Make sure your opener meets current safety requirements by having an electronic reversing system. Evidence of a compliant door opener system is the safety sensor eyes  located 3”-6" off the floor at the bottom of the door on each side.
  • Make sure these sensors are cleaned and aligned with each other. Cobwebs, leaves & dirt can prevent the sensors from operating properly.
  • Test the opener by:
    • Opening your garage door
    • Place a 2X4 piece of wood  flat on the garage floor near the door center
    • Close the door using the opener
    • When the door closes on the wood, it should automatically reverse
    • If it does not reverse, this is a serious safety hazard & the opener settings should be adjsted or repaired.
  • Your garage door is opened by the springs and these springs will lose their strength through usage. Test to see if the door and springs are balanced properly by:
    • Disconnecting the door from the opener system by pulling the red disconnect cord.
    • Manually lower the door to the  half way point & see if it stays in that position with out being held, if so it is balanced.
    • If it raises or lowers on its own, the springs may need adjustment.
    • Running an unbalanced door with your opener may lead to heavy wear on the opener.
